Three pieces for choir with text by Hildegard von Bingen
During the spring and summer of 2025, I wrote these three short pieces for choir. The text is from three different composistions by Hildegard von Bingen, one psalm and two antiphons. I have only used the text and composed new music to it.

Three pieces with text by Hildegard von Bingen
-
O virtus Sapientie
-
O frondens virga
-
O quam mirabilis est

It was the text that was the inspiration to the music as well as wanting to write something that would be a continuance of our church music tradition. In the first movement I depict the "energy of wisdom" with short runs and fast notes. The wisdom that swirls and encompasses all parts of life, as she writes. She pays tribute to wisdom, something we can all do as humans. The second movement is calmer. I imagined a flowering twig, which in all its simplicity is beautiful, alive and radiates life and joy. The third movement is again more lively. There is a lot of repetition of "divina pectoris", our beating heart that gives us life.

The pieces that be performed together as a whole, but also works as individual pieces.
